President's Message

Dear Lebanese Citizens,
Dear Partners in Government, Healthcare, and Industry,

I address you as a proud representative of the Lebanese pharmaceutical sector, a sector that supported the country through its most difficult moments and carried responsibilities far beyond its size. I honor its journey and extend my gratitude to every member who acted with conviction and resilience.

For decades, this sector has been a backbone of the national health system. During the collapse of borders, supply chains and confidence, Lebanese pharmaceutical manufacturers did not stop.

We produced.
We supplied.
We protected access to medicines.
We safeguarded jobs.

We adapted quickly, expanded capacities, upgraded systems and aligned with international quality frameworks, while preserving our core mission: ensuring that medicines manufactured in Lebanon remain affordable, accessible and trusted.

Today, local pharmaceutical manufacturing stands as:

  • A pillar of the economy, reducing import dependency and preserving foreign currency
  • A pillar of health, ensuring continuity of care even in disruption
  • A pillar of stability, sustaining more than 7,000 families and providing high-skilled career paths
  • A pillar of innovation, investing in technology, quality systems and global collaborations

Countries that have secured their place in the future share one reality. They rely on a strong national pharmaceutical industry, and Lebanon is no exception.

Lebanon will remain sustainable as long as its pharmaceutical sector is protected, maintained and supported. And for that, Lebanon urgently needs a modern pharmaceutical policy that recognizes the strategic value of local production and places health security at the center of national priorities.

From our side, the Syndicate reaffirms its commitment to:

  • Advocate for regulations that reward quality and affordability
  • Strengthen partnerships with public authorities, healthcare
    professionals and international institutions
  • Expand Lebanon’s presence in regional and global markets
  • Preserve and elevate the standards that define our industry
  • Protect our human capital and create opportunities for our youth

These commitments are not promises for tomorrow. They are the foundation of the work we are carrying forward today as we strengthen the industry, support our partners and serve the Lebanese people.

To every team member, every health professional who trusts our medicines, every institution that supports our mission and every Lebanese citizen who chooses local production, we extend our deepest respect.

The Lebanese pharmaceutical industry is rising, rebuilding and shaping a future where Lebanon stands strong, independent and forward-looking.

Together, let us build a healthier and stronger Lebanon that relies on its own resources, its own talents and its own industry.

With ambition, determination and profound commitment,
Dr. Carol Abi Karam
President
Syndicate of Pharmaceutical Industries in Lebanon
