In his first official meeting following his appointment, Minister of Industry Joe Issa El Khoury received a delegation from the Syndicate of Pharmaceutical Industries in Lebanon, headed by Dr. Carole Abi Karam.
The delegation presented the Minister with a comprehensive position paper outlining the current state of the pharmaceutical industry in Lebanon, highlighting its importance and positive impact on the country’s health, economic, financial, and social sectors. The paper also included a set of demands aimed at strengthening the productivity of this vital sector.
For his part, the Minister stressed the importance of this industry and the need to further develop it, noting that supporting productive sectors—particularly pharmaceuticals—contributes to reducing the trade deficit while preserving Lebanese talent and the local workforce.
Minister El Khoury expressed his full readiness to follow up on the paper and work on implementing its recommendations in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The meeting concluded with the Minister affirming that Lebanon has always been a country of industry since the days of the Phoenicians, emphasizing that without industry, neither trade would have flourished nor crafts been born.
